One of the leading art museums of the American South, the North Carolina Museum of Art opened in 1956 as the first in the nation established with public state funds. RecommendedI am a photography buff. I came by train with a group that caught that same train from different cities so we could see the Ansel Adams exhibit together. We enjoyed everything and loved that we got to see another large exhibit along with this one, The Glory of Venice. I will definitely come back to spend more time exploring the museum grounds.

This is actually one of NC triangles treasures. For a city not as big as San Francisco or New York, this museum actually shares a lot in common. The outdoor exhibits are just as great as the indoor. It's great that it is right on the long miles of greenway as well.
