About this business

Walking up to this diner, you can see it's anything but typical. The front windows display mannequin heads with interesting hairdos, scarves, and even bread hats. The food is also made to stand out. Interesting flavor combinations like the maple bacon donut and the peanut butter potato chip cupcake dominate the pastry menu. Breakfast and brunch items are plentiful, and range from sweet, like the homemade brioche french toast, to savory, like the tofu scramble. There are also delicious lunch and dinner dishes like the pulled ... read more

Happened to find the Nickel Diner by chance as we were walking by to see a band play down the street. We were hungry but also concerned we would not be able to find any vegetarian food. We were pleasantly surprised by vegetarian sloppy joe’s, white bean soup, and fries. The beer selection was pretty good too. Service was good and the prices were fair. I would eat there again.

The food was great. Sad they didn’t have corn beef hash on a weekday but overall it was a great experience. I would go back when in town again.

Clean, classic and classy local diner. Excellent customer service, and food was excellent. I had the Brioche French Toast with a side of scrambled eggs and bacon, and an OJ (around $25). Not the cheapest breakfast downtown but I will definitely be back.

Only had to wait about 5 minutes to be seated. Had to wait over 30 minutes to get our food. The father & son that sat down next to use after we had already been sitting 15 minutes got their food the same time that we did. Sorry to say this but I could have gotten a better burger & fries and 1/2 the price at D-Town Burgers on 6th Street just off of Broadway. I'm not a breakfast person, but what I seen come out to the tables while we were waiting, the breakfast items look good.
