Purchased solar from New Star 3 years ago. If they are under new management, maybe it is a different story now. We have found out that New Star installed older solar panels in 2022 to save cost to them but pass the cost onto us. This is not good business practice. We trusted them and now we have to update everything only 3 years later.

Well, I can’t say I’m surprised to see they’re temporarily closed, but I am concerned since they were supposed to handle my 25-year warranty. I truly regret using this company — and honestly, regret doing solar altogether. From start to finish, it was a headache. I had new star install about a year ago. I noticed some of the critter guard came loose so I climbed up on the roof to fix it and found that they only put the guard on the spots you could see from the ground. Didn’t even bother with the tops of the panels. This is just blatant trickery and disregard for quality. I have to hire a company to come finish the project. If new star is still in business, I will see them in small claims court.
I strongly regret choosing NewStar Solar. From the beginning, they promised us a $1,000 rebate check that we have still never received nearly a year later. Their customer service is terrible—calls almost never get answered, and voicemails go unreturned. The project itself took three times longer than they originally promised, and when it was finally completed, I was told I would have no power bill. Instead, I’ve been paying $100 every month.
