One star is too much! Paper thin walls in buildings. They just insist every crazy noise is normal and is what you should bear, even if it legally exceeds limit, and no matter when nor what it is: kids running, door slams, music, loud TV, low bass, subwoofers or even intimate noise. Check your lease agreement for limitation on your right to go court because there might be some arbitration agreement you did not know you could opt out or just chose elsewhere. Two-plus years paying $3,500/month for a one-bedroom, never a problem — until I needed to transfer my lease. Then Newport went silent. Inspection completed days ago, zero follow-up, unanswered emails, and a front desk that rolled her eyes and told me it "takes however long it takes." If you ever need to leave early, expect to be stonewalled into paying rent you shouldn't owe. Loyal tenants deserve better.
SECURITY DEPOSIT ISSUE – Strongly advise avoiding Newport Rentals. Newport Rentals withheld $1,400 from my security deposit for alleged terrace floor damage. The photos they provided do not consistently show damage—some images have no damage, and others mostly show normal wear and tear. Some of the scratches cited were already present before I moved in.
