New Wave Cafe is a hip and happening restaurant nestled in the center of Queen Village, serving gourmet American cuisine and fine drinks till late in the night. Lose the attitude. Get a new chef. Return to the glory days. If any restaurant benefits from "location, location, location", it has to be this one. The service and attitude is so BAD that it's clear they're not for want of customers simply because of where they're located. For a spectacular food and wonderful service, try DIMITRI's across the street (though bring your own drinks because it's BYOB). I should know...I live on the same block as both and avoid New Wave at all costs. Instead, the food at New Wave is TERRIBLE (unl... read more
not what i remember i remember this being a lot more fun then it has been lately. seems to have turned a corner down meat head street. not in a hurry to get back there. staff was nice though, so i have to give them credit for that.
Decent bar This place used to be great. It's still decent. You can still get a good margarita and the Isabella salad, but that perfect neighborhood bar meets solidly good comfort food is not there anymore.
New Wave Cafe We had dinner before a show here and it was pretty good. We ordered off the bar menu because the regular dinner menu was too pricey for our group. They have offer a great varied and inspired menu. Food was great but it was super crowded!
The worst food I have ever been served by servers that don't care what they are serving, how they are serving or how they treat their customers. They ask how everything was with no reply. I got a box to go so I could show it to the board of health & email a picture of my entree which I was afraid I would get sick if I ate it. I wouldn't even feed it to my dog. I wouldn't even donate it to a homeless person on the street for fear they would get sick. The air vents are filled with dust and grease.. The neighbors told me when l... read more
Warm neighborhood restaurant – Great place to meet for a drink on a rainy night... It is casual and easy and fun.
Great bar, terrible food – I am seriously blown away by the number of people who have written here saying that the food at New Wave is good. I can conclude either that (1) they ate there at one of the rare times the food was good (I'm told the chef changes with the seasons) or (2) they don't eat out often or, if they do, they do so only at underwhelming locales (i.e., Applebees). Now, I'm not a guy with fancy tastes, but I eat out at least once or twice a week and the food at this place is terrible. TERRIBLE. By way of examp... read more
Best Neighborhood Bar in ALL of Philadelphia!!! – The dude/lady to review this place before has no idea what he/she is talking about!!!....there is no attitude about the New Wave. The bartenders are extremely friendly, and go out of their way to engage you in a stimulating conversation and do whatever they can to make you feel at home. The drink selection is extensive. The food is fantastic and very affordable. The neighborhood (Queen Village) is extremely charming. The waitresses/bartenders are very sweet and quite beautifu... read more
