Neptune's Net Seafood

About this business

This biker's and surfer's local hangout is about as casual as you can get. Order your meal in a cafeteria-style line and pick it up on a paper plate from a window that connects to the kitchen. Still, the seafood and sandwiches are delicious and you can't beat the location, which is just across from the ocean. The dress code is nonexistent, so bring your flip-flops and bathing suit. Try the shrimp, the Fried Calamari or any of the fresh fish plates.

Best Place on Earth – I love Neptune's Net -- weekdays especially. Weekends bring the crowds which is good if you like people watching. But, go on a monday or tuesday... So relaxing and mellow. Its my church.

Average Seafood and Hungry Road Warriors! – If you like rowdy crowds, hungry road warriors and average seafood - then this is the place for you! I have been coming here since I was a child in the late 70's. Almost 40 years later, nothing has changed. Long lines, bad service, dirty floors and expensive average seafood make this place a Malibu landmark. Truly a Southern California experience. Do not misunderstand my review. Yes, it sounds harsh, but at least it is truthful. No. This ain't Gladstone's. Yes. This is a nice place... read more

Biker Bar n Fish n Chips – The long drive (2hrs on a Sun) from Los Angeles to this legendary Malibu establishment on the overcrowded PCH made us hungry for some unique fresh seafood. And having seen it advertised on Food Network, maybe my expectations were a little high, but this breezy restaurant that was a bit like a liquor mart meets cheap roadside fast food place. Admitted, the atmosphere was uniquely Malibu, but the fight for the self seating on dirty tables made the $15 fish/calamari/chips combo a little disenchanting.... read more

Okay for Visiting – I went here on a Sunday afternoon .. its a nice place to visit, but the rowdy crowds, swarms of bikers, self seating, and a 25 min wait to get cold food eventually kills not only the appetite, but eventually your patience to be around all the drunk bikers. The food is average, nothing great. there is fresh steamed seafood, and cooked seafood- the cooked meaning "overly fried". it's a great place to visit just for the fact that it is a malibu landmark, but definitely not a place i can see myself going to a... read more

greentacos.com? – last time i went to neptune's net, they were giving away free stickers with their website: greentacos.com. I didn't check out the website until I was driving later that week and I saw the same sticker in Beverly Hills, then again in Mammoth Mountain, and then again in Cabo Mexico! The site is amazing and it even has surf report for the adjacent beach along with other fun photos, etc. Plus, they show flash images of the fried seafood and it makes you hungry.

'Good Vibes' is prbably the best way to describe this place. The location is superb on the count of their not being shopping centers surrounding every inch of the surrounding land, the sunsets are georgous, and the service is definetely friendly. Yes, there are locals, as some of the previous reviews have pointed out, but that is one of the reasons this place is so enjoyable. (Talk to them! they are very cool people!) The only con is that this place can be quite busy, but order your food, grab your drink and some chowder and... read more

Great place to chill after a long day of relaxing – I go hiking up in Circle X Ranch (the road behind the restaurant) so this is a great place to stop by on the way back to town. I've never had the steamed seafood before so I gave it a try. I got a half-pound of jumbo shrimp, a half-pound of crab legs, and steamed corn-on-the-cob. Oh man, did that hit the spot! It could stand to be a little cheaper but the food works for me. The other times I've been here, the chowder is excellent but all that fried food can weigh you down. ... read more

Wow, place looks great! – I remember when I first came to Neptune's 30 years ago. Wow, its changed so much. It has really cleaned up. The great thing about Neptune's is that its so unique. Its got its own life force. I tell ya, if your new to Neptune's, you got something coming because you've never been to a place like this.

Locals only? – Man, I heard so many good things about this place, I couldn't wait to go here. Well, I did a couple days ago and I really regret it. The food's decent enough, but I was basically ignored the entire time I was there. It wasn't that it was busy; I was just on the pay-no-mind list. I had to almost walk up to the person at the register and tap them on the shoulder to order anything. Man, it was humiliating. I mean, I may not be cool and ride a Harley or be a surfer-dude, but come on. Well, message heard loud and c... read more
