Dr. Akhtar fat-shamed me. I had an obvious issue with my knee that was not caused by any weight problem and he refused to even look at my MRI. When I asked why, he said, “he trusts the radiologist report. He doesn’t need to look at it.” At the time of my visit, I had been in pain for many months and he didn’t care. It was because he put a cheap nickel prosthesis in there, needless to say another doctor had to pull the whole knee replacement out because it was only a partial and replace it with a full knee replacement and that was the most painful time of my life. All in all, because of the decision to put a nickel replacement in my knee, it cost me five additional surgeries to have the allergic rejection stop. Horrible experience with Dr. Akhtar. Very abrasive and lacks bedside manners. It is his job to be a doctor and advise on medical care, not pretend to be a family therapist or advise our family to "step up". Very presumptuous for a doctor who has only seen our family member 3 times. Having him as her surgeon was probably the worst decision we've made on her behalf. I had been suffering from my knee pain and hip pain. Dr's in Winchester said it was just arthritis and nothing could be done.I found Dr Akhtar through the internet...made an appointment. After xrays he said I needed a total hip replacement. I asked him about my knee. He said nothing is wrong with your knee...he showed me the x-rays......nothing WAS WRONG with my knee.
