When I arrived at the counter, the keys and contract were ready and I was in the car in less than 5 minutes. Return was extremely easy too. Very courteous employees. Will definitely use National again if I am coming to Des Moines.
I wanted to rent out an SUV but was disappointed that DSM airport had no Emerald aisle. But the rep was able to get me an upgrade to an SUV for extra $20 per day. The car was not washed and I had trouble with seeing through salt covered windows and mirrors.
My work involves a bit of travel (250 days this year). I've been to Des Moines regularly this past year. The customer service at National has always been great. Usually I end with the vehicle I want and have never had a problem with the condition. Just as in life you have to be patient and bring a good attitude.
I rent in Des Moines often and the vehicles are always filthy and in some form of disrepair. The agents' attitude is "take it or leave it."
When I approached the counter the CSRs were busy in a non work discussion and treated my appearance at the counter as a nuisance. I did not receive a verbal greeting and the woman in the center just pointed at another CSR to help me. This was a priceline rental so I did not choose National, but I will certainly doubt that I will choose this location when I have other choices. They also did not have my car class available and downgraded me. Very unsatisfying experience.
Usually have a great experience but not this time around. I travel to Des Moines often for work (3-4 times a year) - this trip I traveled solo & had a really early departing flight back to Philadelphia (which I never had before) - a 6:30 am flight on Saturday, 8/29/15. I tried calling Customer Svc Friday (multiple times) to confirm how early I could return my rental and if there was a key "drop box" so as to avoid being pressed for time with checking my luggage & getting through security, etc. National's Main CSR's could NOT... read more
accidentally booked the wrong size and then got a free upgrade! exellent customer service!
The DSM National rental car counter has provided me with great service every time I use them. On my latest trip, my flight was delayed and didnt arrive until 12:40 AM. I thought they would have closed up and left by then but no, the agent was cheerfully waiting for me at the counter with a nice car ready to go. I will always rent from them!
The Des Moines National customer service representatives have always been excellent. I'm from Texas and have flown into the airport multiple times and have never been disappointed with the quality of cars or the quality of service.
