terribe experience – the owner/dog trainer is the most awful person i have ever met. she yells at dogs, but more so the owners. too bad this place doesnt offer refunds, i would have taken my money back in a heartbeat. my dogs bark alot and are a little disobediant, but that is the point of 'basic obediance class' isnt it? well i guess to her it wasnt. right when i walk in, she rushes up to my dog yelling at him no no no!! no barking!! then yells at me that i need to control my dogs, tells me my dogs are bratty, then sticks u... read more
Love It! – I love that I can quickly take in my dog to get her toenails trimmed without an appointment. Very helpful and friendly staff. Excellent product selection and classes.
Less than we expected; lack of individualized instructions – We had high expectations on this place after reading some of the reviews here and meeting the staff at this place (although we didn't meet the teacher nor went to watch a class--which I highly recommend). It is true that the "owner doesn't have people skills" at all. If you expect help with your dog with a especific command or time to ask a questions forget it. You won't get any. I would not recommend this place. – I cannot recommend this place. I do agree that some of the staff are pleasant and helpful, but the owner definitely lacks people skills. Prices (for classes and store items) are twice as high as anywhere else. I took several classes there ONLY because they were the only ones that fit my schedule. The last class I took, I was only able to attend the first night of class (there were 8 nights total in this particular class). Personal Touch – The staff really wants you to be successfull in your training experience even if it means showing "tuff love" and not sugar coating their expectations. I really enjoyed the Basic Obediance class and look forward to Intermediate level. The store also items that you can't find at chain stores, like the rope leads & the really awsome car harness. When my puppy had almost out grown the first harness I had purchesed at My Dog & Me I looked at car harnesses at a national chain and found them to be preplexing....ho... read more
Love It! – Love the location, love the fact that I can train my dogs indoors. Trainers are great. Not for agility competition training...but we have great fun.
OK if you can't find items elsewhere. – The puppy seminar was overpriced, underinformative, and only a brief part given by the actual instructor. Most of it was product pushing. Questions answered with 'my consultation fees are....', even if asking for suggestions on books they carry at the shop. I understand some trainers don't like to give free advice, but product advice shouldn't really count as 'free' at a retail shop. The non trainer employees are nice and friendly, good 'we like animals and here's our advice' type help... read more
Great trainer - the approach is to train YOU – At this facility, the trainer's focus is on training the human to communicate with the dog. It certainly does take a mindset adjustment, but is excellent. She can be a bit abrupt if you aren't paying attention, but if I wanted a spa day, I would go to a spa. The way I look at it, I'm paying to know the best way to communicate with my dogs - so that's what I want to hear. Love it and will return many times!
