We had a very bad experience with Kirkwood Plumbing (Mr. Rooter) on 10/3/24.I was out of town, and my wife noticed bubbles coming from the basement commode when the adjacent shower was running.When the two technicians arrived, the younger one, ****, announced, before even doing any analysis, that due to the age of the house, 50 years old, they expected bad news.The first thing they did was checking the roof vent, no issue. On 7/22/24 I had a clean water break in the line to the refrigerator overnight. I woke to saturated flooring in the kitchen, the great room, the sub flooring, the joists, and a flooded basement floor. Called for cleaning my sewer line. Would not provide a price in advance. Upon arrival, they told me the only way to clear the line was with a hydro blast type cleaning (without trying a standard method) at $750. Reluctantly I agreed, only to be told after 10 minutes of attempting to clear the line, that I needed $7000 in repairs. They presented me an estimate, with a 30% discount IF I signed immediately.Of course I did not. However they still charged me $750 for clearing the line! Their technician came out to repair and replace 2 outside spigots. The bill was over $1600. While he was there he fell off of the step ladder and broke a basement window and damaged a faucet. He neglected to inform the office about this. I called and sent photos. I was told they would get back to me. It's been almost two weeks and I haven't heard back from them yet.

I had an emergency for a sump repair, Mr Rooter came out, over charged on repair, pump at most w/have been no more than $300, I was charged $947 for replacing pump. Company w/not give itemized break down on costs. Had no option than to pay it so finished basement w/not flood. The repairman was good it was there overbilling & not giving a statement on costs. RecommendedI was able to have a technician arrive the same day that I called for service. I received a text with his photo, and he also called to let me know when he would arrive. I actually had two separate issues, a clogged floor drain, and a clogged drain tile into my sump pump. Unfortunately, the call had been marked as a sump pump issue, so he did not have the necessary equipment, but he got us scheduled for the next morning (and apologized for the delay). I highly recommend this company for any of my plumbing needs. I called because out water heater was leaking. Needless to say we needed a new one. The company was quick in their response, superior in their customer service, and extremely helpful in their assistance with the rebate from Spire. The plumber & Tech took the time to cover my floors, protect my walls, and wore shoes covers. They were also very neat and clean in their appearance. Called for a sink clog. I asked if the person they sent would be wearing a mask and was told yes. They called to say the tech was ahead of schedule. I said I would be here and again asked them to be sure a mask would be worn by tech. I got a text message with techs name and photo. He didn’t show and after an hour I called back and they said he was stuck in traffic but would be here in 20 minutes. I got another text with a different tech name. Tech showed up with no mask.
