The nurses and aides who work D1East were all wonderful. DON'T go there if you will have even the remotest need of physical therapy when you get out!! My mother was in for 1 month battling pneumonia. For the last 2 weeks I've made it known to the social workers that I wanted my mother to go to the in house Transitional Care Unit. When the discharge day arrived the social workers informed me that the Therapy Unit would NOT accept her. Im an ICU RN and a few nights ago i went to the ER at South Nassau Communities Hospital with a pain level of 8/10 with elevated BP due to the pain. The triage nurse didn't evaluate well my situation and sent me to the waiting area in which I was waiting for over one hour. During this waiting time I was walking in the area because I couldn't seat or stay still due to the pain and also feeling nausea.
