What a memory I was born in that hospital!!!
It dawned on me they run the place like an airport.....tower control...how can you time operations and run major surgery like an assembly line? They deliberately over book creating their "acceptable" margin of delays and not accounting for a greater percentage of chance with Emergencies. Can you run a hospital with a 9 - 5 mentality? And use the recovery room as the place for post op care to meet minimum ration of nurse to patient ratios. I DON'T KNOW YET. I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO TRANSFER MY SON HERE FROM ANOTHER HOSPITAL THAT HAS GIVEN UP ON MY CHILD. BUT IN MOUNT SINAI CREED IT STATES HOW THEY PRIDE THEMSELVES ON EXCELLENT TREATMENT OF PATENTS WHO WANT TO COME THERE FOR BETTER TREATMENT. WHY DID THEY DENIED MY SON WHO SURVIVED 6 STRAIGHT DAYS OF 105-106 DAYS OF FEVER AND STILL LIVING. WHY WANT YOU HELP US!!!!???

Husband had surgery there last friday. Sinus surgery with Dr. Shohet. We were told surgery would be at 11. He did not have surgery until 2:12. No one even bothered to communicate this to my husband who was up there by himself. When I spoke to the doctor, and told him of the situation, he said that it was NOT possible to have the surgery at 11. I mean, who does this? Communicate with your patients!
