It is very over rated. I don't see why people wait in long linea to eat there. The food had no seasoning, I had the ham dinner, the only good thing I had was the green beans. Will not recommend it to anyone, unless you are in a bland diet.

I’m not experienced in Cajun food. I find that Cajun cooking is just salty.. 😬 I had the combo platter with turnip greens and a buttermilk biscuits.. the jambalaya was very tasty the Crawfish etoufee amazing.. Service was decent. The mimosa was awful.. the biscuit, nothing to write home about.. The turnip greens were great.. It’s kind of a landmark.. I still recommend it..

Business response:

Dee, we're a po' boy restaurant that serves some Soul, Creole, and Cajun dishes. What's interesting is that we cook with only a little salt (it can always be added). Of course, there is salt in the ham and smoked sausage used to season the turnip greens and Jerry's Jambalaya. We're most surprised by your comment about the biscuit, the opposite of what we hear almost daily. Our apologies.

It’s hit or miss. Previously I had had good food and good service; this week- overpriced oyster po boy and an extremely unfriendly cashier, it is not on my places to go again next time I’m in NO. Sad.

It's all it's cracked up to be. Live here all my life and it was my first time eating at Mother's. Hubby and I got one roast beef and one ham and spit them. Way to go. FYI 4:30 no line.

Business response:

Thanks! Yes, the window between 3-6 p.m. on weekdays is generally a good time to visit (anytime but lunch).

Good food. Definite retro atmosphere, not expensive, a bit unorganized too small to handle the volume of peeps. Overall, I went there for the food and was not disappointed. Serving sizes are appropriate and enough. I recommend eating there at least once, but feel free to patronize them more often!
