Very nice place with nice gardens. Columns need a little bit more painting.

I came up today for the Harvest Festival for a surprise birthday trip for my husband. He had never visited Monticello so I made sure we done the house tour. We had an amazing tour guide for the 9 AM house tour this morning. She made the trip!
We loved every minute of our day at Monticello. We lucked out in getting the last two tickets for the last behind-the-scenes tour of the day. That gave us the whole day to explore the grounds and the visitors center (which provided a welcomed air conditioned respite from the heat and humidity). Every single staff member we encountered was so nice and helpful and engaging. It was a memorable day in every way.
We spent the day at Monticello and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The staff was informative and helpful. We ended our day with the sunset tour guided by Rachel, who was excellent! The only thing missing was the sun but we'll visit again soon!
