Jess W. review for Montgomery Oral & Facial Surgery

If i could give zero stars I would. This office is the worst. I went in for a consultation for a dental implant. When I called to make the appointment I gave my insurance information and asked how much the out of pocket cost would be. The receptionist told me zero, because it was just a consultation. When I actually went in for my appointment, I again provided my insurance information and just to be sure I asked again about my out of pocket cost and I again was told zero. I am a graduate student and I am on a very fixed income so I always make sure to ask multiple times about the cost of services. After my initial consultation the dentist told me she needed an x ray in order to provide me with an estimate. The dentist did not mention it was a special x ray and might not be covered, neither did the dental assistant nor did anyone at the front desk, so I agreed to the x ray assuming it was part of the initial consultation. After the x ray, the receptionist told me they would send me an estimate in a few weeks. A few weeks goes by and I received a letter from them which I assumed was my estimate, much to my surprise it was a 300 dollar bill for a cone beam x ray which my insurance didn't cover. I called the office and asked them why I received this outrageous bill when they told me the out of pocket cost was zero (presumably after they checked my coverage). They gave me the run around of course and I told them they at least should have told me there was a potential for an out of packet cost when they did the x ray. They responded by saying "it's protocol to inform the patient of a possible out of pocket cost before anything is done" . I reminded them that NO ONE in the office followed their alleged protocol that morning and I was told no such thing. Understandably I was upset so I asked to speak to the dentist (Dr. Rostami) and she told me they would only remove the bill if I got an implant there....so I guess it's also protocol to blackmail a person to remove an unwarranted bill? What an unprofessional group of people, they will not admit they didn't follow protocol and now I have to pay this bill or they put me in collections.I did receive an estimate a few months later....thanks for that...ridiculous. Do yourself a favor and find a different dental surgery office or you will likely get unwarranted bills in the mail
