As you'd expect, Monroe is just one more greedy, totally scripted property management entity that pretends to be friendly and helpful until they see a chance to grab some cash. They pretty much own all rentals in upper Manchester so they can do anything they want there since they have no competition.  The employees seem very nice but they do not have any ability to make meaningful decisions. I really regret that I can't give these people a zero but it won't let you do that. I did contract and repair HVAC for these people for probably four to going on 5 years now. I've had serious issues with getting paid for the work that I did it would take so long then I would have to start calling and inquiring to what was going on then you would get an excuse. I can't speak about Monroe properties as far as being a renter I have never rented from them. However, I have done contract work repairing they're HV AC units. I will say there are horrible company to deal with good luck getting your money from them anytime soon after you perform the work. Actually spoke to a lady name Mary who works for Monroe properties horrible horrible attitude. Belligerent, not truthful, just not pleasant to talk to. I've lived at 908 Perry Street for almost two years and I haven't had any issues so far. Maintenance is quick and helpful. Management is professional. Also, Manchester has really grown on me and it looks like they own half the neighborhood. I can't see myself renting from another landlord in Richmond!

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!! I am completely shocked. We received only $150 out of the $1075 put in even though the apartment was no where near bad condition when we left. As a matter of fact majority of the damage was done to the apartment because of the extremely poor maintenance. Last year they told us they had to replace our apartment windows. Oh my god. Well, at least it's nice to know I'm not alone in getting screwed when it comes to the security deposit. I'm taking them to court. Enough is enough. Someone has to put their foot down.

I've had it. I told myself I wouldn't write a review about this company, but dammit, this is not okay. They charged me over $800 to fix normal wear and tear. And that is AFTER the $200 I was allotted for living there for multiple years. CROOKS. THIEVES. LIARS. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY. You be better served pissing on you security deposit.

Before you rent from Monroe Properties, do your research. There are plenty of negative reviews on ApartmentRatings, Google and Yahoo backing what I say below. Although there were many things I did not like about this rental company, I've decided to focus my review on the move-out inspection and security deposit. Monroe Properties is shady. I concur with most of these other reviews. They are crooks, and will take all of your deposit. Then when you ask management about it, they'll pass the buck, telling you to talk to maintenance. They're the worst company I've ever dealt with, and I sincerely hope that people read these reviews before renting from them. Save yourself - NEVER RENT FROM MONROE PROPERTIES.
