Minsky's - After 30 years - Never Again – I second Senior Gal (Aug. 22, 2011). Two incidents at the Prairie Village and Shawnee Minsky's in just the last month are finally enough to say goodbye to Minsky's - with resolve. First, a waitress challenged what we had pre-ordered by phone on the way into the restaurant, insisting what we ordered was not correct and balking at making an adjustment on the bill. Extremely Rude Manager &waitress that throw out Senior gals – I am a Senior Citizen and was thrown out just for bringing a bottle of coke zero. The rude staff /manager threw me out for bringing in a coke zero . They should of just told me nicely that they didn't allow outside sodas. Instead of throwing me out. Shawnee Minsky's is the best Pizza in town – We have been to the Minsky’s in Shawnee MANY times and I would not go anywhere else…period! They have been the best for a long time. We always have great service even when it is busy. I always get the pizza that is all meat and my wife likes the veggie and her family loves the seafood…I like the seafood real well too. What we feel is important is that you must visit the Shawnee Minsky’s, they are the ones who do it all the very best.

The worst – We moved here a few months ago from Colorado and were told that Minsky's has the best food in town. We took my 9 year old son and 4 month old daughter and made a family night out of it. BIG mistake. We were seated in a booth next to another couple with a small child who kicked the back of her booth constantly. We asked to move and the server refused because we would have to move out of her section and she would lose the tip. Next we went ahead and ordered. I can't believe the bad reviews -- we LOVE Minsky's – We've gotten great pizza every time we go, even with carry out. The pizzas are loaded with a generous amount of toppings and always fresh. When we walk into Minsky's it smells amazing and is usually busy. Everyone has always been friendly, even when they're busy.

Horrible Customer service, including the manager! – Customer service was horrible. I have 3 children and went to Minsky's for dinner on a busy Saturday night. With and extra friend along, our party totaled 6. There were two booths available but the hostess refused to seat us at two different tables claiming that they will not let children sit without an adult. My children are all above the age of 10. I requested to speak to the manager and he was extremely rude and no help at all. He said that was policy and would not budge.... read more

Terrible Pizza. Gourmet??? – What a sad statement. This is far from true. Pizza was like cardboard and overpriced. If this and D' Bronx are the only KC pizzerias everyone raves about, there is a lot of improvement needed.

Great pizza! – I think Minsky's is the best pizza in KC, this location is no exception. They're the only place I've found that make a good salami pizza! The sauce is great too - reminds me of great Boston Greek pizza. The only drawback of this location is that it's very smoky. They allow smoking at the bar, and it contaminates the whole dining room. I usually do take-out for that reason.
