I highly recommend Dr. Kao. He's very knowledgeable and thorough. He has an excellent working knowledge of pharmacokinetics. For me this is important because I have many drug metabolism issues which in the past doctors treated me like I was making it up. I also have a rarely diagnosed disease that in my first visit Dr. Kao screened me for and gave me my official diagnosis. Dr. Kao is the best doctor I've ever seen. I've been to several doctors in different states and NONE of them compare to his attentiveness, caring and understanding. He goes above and beyond to give me the best care. He is the first doctor who was able to explain what chronic pain was in terms I understood. And he didn't make me feel like there was something wrong with me or it was all in my head--which I've heard quite a bit from other doctors. I am very lucky to have Dr. Kao as my doctor.
Totally unprofessional. He is extremely hard to get a hold of. I have been dealing with my insurance for the past 4 weeks trying to get an MRI approved, after Dr. Kao submitted the wrong information to my insurance carrier. I would recommend finding a different doctor, one that can actually be reached should a problem like this arise. I will be filing a formal complaint with Stanford.
