Miguel's Cocina

4.4

About this business

You will not find "Mexican lite" served here. Instead, good soul-satisfying Mexican food here at Miguel's Cocina. You will find enchiladas smothered with sauce and cheese, as well as tostada supremes laden with sour cream and guacamole. Do not forget to ask for the special "white sauce" with the chips and salsa that all the locals do! With good food, friendly service and a full bar, this small restaurant has become a San Diego favorite. Without reservations, expect to wait an hour on weekend nights.

Mmm mmm good Miguel's is a good mexican restaurant for those who want an authentic, nice sit down place that is not too expensive. It's usually not too crowded, unless you go on a weekend night. The parking lot out front is really small, but there are several adjacent lots with parking for the restaurant as well. The service is adequate and the food is pretty good, but the best part is their white sauce. With the fresh, warm chips they bring out salsa, but also this cheese sauce (aka white sauce) that is to die for. Literall... read more

Excellent White Sauce The best carne asada tacos in Point Loma (enchilada are great too). Staff friendly. Atmosphere pleasant. Prices are reasonable. I stop here every time I go to San Diego.

Great Drinks. I have to admit, I eat here at least once per week because my work is nearby. In general, this place is an alright place to go for some margaritas, rice and beans. They have a special cream sauce that comes with your salsa to dip your chips in (try not to be dirty). People love the cream sauce. I think it is ok. What I do like here is the way they make the margaritas. Make sure you ask them to make yours with very little sour mix, or tell them you like fresh lime juice. Oh yea, and be sure to order it with Don ... read more

Super Good You want Mexican food? This is the place you want to try out. Amazing tasty REAL Mexican food with tons of items on the menu. Friendly Fast Service, only downfall is the parking situation. Gotta order the "white sauce" that's a must.

Margaritas not so good My husband and I have been in Miguels more than a few times. We've usually tried to go during Happy Hour. Sometimes it is super busy and others not so bad. What is bad... their house Margaritas. They are a lousy combination of sweet sour mix, ice and a lime. Their food is tasty (Quesdillas, Nachos, Tacos).

Great Food and Service! We loved the food and service. The white sauce that came with the chips was delicious. The food was tasty and the price was reasonable. I will return the next time I am in San Diego.

Saturday Ritual My Fiance and I love Miguel's! This is becoming our twice/month Saturday lunch ritual. They have great Margherita's, chips, and food...I'm not sure what one review was talking about...We have consistently received great service and food. I would recommend sitting in the bar area...its casual and still provides great service.
