Dr. Mandese quite possibly has better bedside manner than any other doctor I have visited in my lifetime. I came in a few weeks back with an optical emergency and my stress level was extremely high. He could not have been more caring and capable in his treatment of me that day.
Dr Mandese has taken care of my brain-injured brother's eyes for almost six years now. He is very caring and down to earth. We recently had some problems over a weekend, and he was the doctor on call. He was very receptive and genuinely caring, conversing with me daily as to his progress. He quickly fit us into his schedule the following Monday morning with minimal wait time. The typical appointments are sometimes two-hour long waits at his office, which are a bit troublesome, but for the most part, I feel he is worth it.
Dr. Mandese is unreliable and unprofessonal. I did not feel respected as a person or a patient and would not recommend him to anyone.
He is an excellent doctor. I would highly recommend him to anyone. His staff is also excellent.
The doctor was skilled but making patients wait for hours after a scheduled appointment to see you WITH NO APOLOGIES is unacceptable. Your time is not more important than your patients' time is. Remember that.

I had taken my dad to a follow up appointment with Dr. Mandese. I was so impressed by his professionalism, knowledge, compassion and truly caring about my father. I was even more impressed when he took the time to answer my questions. It is so hard to find a Doctor these days that is not in a rush. Dr. Michael Mandese, of The Eye Institute is one of the best eye doctors I have ever been to. I went to him for a routine eye exam and learned that my cataracts were level six. It was becoming difficult to drive at night because of the glare making oncoming cars appear to be in my lane! I couldn't read street signs and frankly was a danger to others while driving.
