My husband I enjoyed the ambience and dinner very much. We will be going back.
It is awesome. First time I had chicken and waffles. They were outstanding
Best restaurant in the known universe.
Meriwether's food and customer attitude is so atrocious that it would be a perfect candidate for Gordon Ramsay's "Kitchen Nightmares"...except Meriwether's is so far gone that even Mr. Ramsay couldn't help it. After 4 glasses of wine ($10 each) in tiny stemware that was less than half the pour of most Portland restaurants, we ordered 4 entrees: two of us ordered chicken that was so dry and oversalted that Kentucky Fried Chicken wouldn't even have served it. (My request for no salt or butter was completely ignored and not eve... read more
Very disappointing. I went back after going a year ago after mixed reviews. The service was horrible. What should have been an hour or 1.5 hour meal was 3.5 hours from the time we sat down. The waitress forgot at least one thing each time she came to to the table, which was not often. When I asked for a salad and wanted to add broiled chicken to it I was informed that the only way the chef would do this was to charge me for a chicken dinner entree. So what was a 15.00 salad would have been close to 30.00. Any restaurant that... read more
Please take the time to read... – We have been visiting MW's for as long as it has been open, 7 years. We have had some memorable times and some that have been challenging when it comes to overall experiences. Unfortunately, I have to write this review as I promise you we will not be frequenting MW's again. Why you ask?: 4-5 oz expensive wine pours, menu prices have increased ~20% over the past year while portions have declined, can't make dietary subs to certain menus, and more than any other was told by a very reliable sou... read more
Horribly disappointed. – Chose this place for our 25th wedding anniversary - big mistake. All because of the food - it was very expensive and ranged from bland/uninspiring to just wierd. E.g. Crab risotto looked like a bowl of rice pudding with 2 minute pieces of what could have been crab. Scallops were served on some concoction with lentils and their idea of "seasonal greens" is a few lettuce leaves! Deserts were no better; the creme brullee resembled half-set glue and tasted of nothing. We were horribly disappointed - made... read more
Farm fresh food, fabulous flavors and beautiful presentation – Meriwether's is a restaurant that I often recommend to friends looking for a special night out or for a great Happy Hour. It has a wonderful atmosphere inside, and a fabulous heated and covered patio. I have been to several "Sunday Suppers" (last Sundays in Oct.-April), and thoroughly enjoyed the generous and tasty dishes cooked in their hearth by Chef Earl. And Happy Hour is a culinary treat with some amazing small plates and nibbles! I have always had good serv... read more
Great Choices. Great Tasting Food. – You know what? I sometimes have high expectations of places at which I dine. I must say that on the 2 occasions I have eaten at Meriwether's I have been more than satisfied. I did have a minor problem with a steak that was undercooked but this was quickly addressed. The brunch is to die for imo. I think they do a good job and I like the service that the wait staff provides. My comment: I feel that I got value for the money spent and if was fun: so there. :)
