We loved the Menger! Stayed for proximity to the Alamo and Riverwalk but loved checking out the history of the hotel. There was a gentleman on the cleaning staff who was super friendly and informative about the hotel's history and events for kids. The valet was the most reasonable since parking in the area was $50 for overnight and the hotel offered in/out valet for $28. Pool was nice. The rooms could use some TLC but it was historic so I didn't expect anything over the top. Would be back again and thanks for the experience ... read more
My wife and I (among other family members) have stayed at the Menger many times. We have always enjoyed our stay. We love the Colonial Room restaurant. We love everything about the Menger, the history, the mystery and the just the simple elegance of it all. We always talk about "wishing we were at the Menger". We miss it so much. We hope to comeback really soon.

I have stayed several times at the Menger it is beautiful, classy, and so convenient to everything. The food is great. The atmosphere is what it is about, we had a king room for 159, it was very small. It would have been nice to have a microwave and fridge in the closet or cabinet. The valet parking is way to expensive. We needed a repair on shower which was very timely. Hot tub needs more movement but, temp was great. I was really looking forward to staying here it was supposed to be the highlight of our road trip . It turned out to be a real disappointment. It took ages to check in as we had booked through a third party and not the hotel. The room had a peeling bath, dirty bath panel, no fridge and that awful powdered milk. When we asked for half and half they just sent more powder. We tried to cancel the second night and were told that we would have to pay anyway as it was too late.
