Service was fast and friendly.. They're Hamburger was one of the best along with their Onion rings.. I definitely would come back! We we're visiting from out of state..
The chicken fried steak is delicious and look forward to going to Mel's every time prior to going. It's also exciting that during a wait if it's crowded you have a chance of seeing a train
Every year when I visit my sister, the entire family goes to Mels Country Cafe for delicious fried catfish.
Horrible service. Been 3 times in the last 2 months (regular for years before). First experience of the three was horrible. All the staff standing in a circle near the pole right after the register when you walk in. I never got a refill the entire time I was there therefore I only had 1 glass of tea. Went again with high hopes y'all would live up to y'all's reputation and you failed again. Same issue. We just came from San Marcos to try this place out and let me tell you, it was some darn good country cooked meals! I'd been telling my husband let's try it out for 2 years and we just kept forgetting (we only come but 3 times a year if that). Was told the wait was 20 minutes, we were seated in 10. Ordered our food and received it in 15 minutes. And we were there when it was super packed. Service was super fast that we could have been out within the hour, but we took our time and enjoyed our meals. Definitely will be our go ... read more
