do not go here – My boyfriend and I had dinner here last night and we are both Indian and we were not impressed at all. We read the good reviews and it was a huge disappointment. He ordered Fish tikka and they brought him Chicken tikka but we were too tired by that point b/c we waited 45 minutes for the food to send it back.. My eggplant dish was swimming in oil. The service was poor, there was only one other table in the place when we arrived but yet had to wait 20 minutes to order.
Great Value! – Convenient to the Courtyard across the street. Nice tables and pleasant street views. Very accomadating service. Large portions, usually need to take leftovers back for a late night snack.
The best Indian food this side of London – After sampling many different restaurants in the city, I'm glad I ran across this gem. The food is consistently good and the staff is always friendly. They also make an EXCELLENT kabuli naan, although you have to ask for it (it's not on the menu). It's not often food is good enough to travel across town for take out, but it's well worth the trip. Highly recommended.
Best Indian in San Francisco – I lived in San Fran for 2 years, and after moving away, this is the place that I miss the most. There are hundreds of Indian restaurants in SF, and I have tried quite a few. This one is *definitely* the best, in terms of both taste and value. They have great tasting, flavorful food. Naan (bread) is hot out of the oven. Tandori dishes are grilled in front of your eyes. And it's cheap (for downtown San Francisco). Lunch and dinner menus are very different. And you MUST try their Chai, it's the be... read more
An Absolute Must ! – Tired of living on the east coast I decided to hit base in San Francisco. Recommended by a friend I I visited Mehifl Indian Restaurant during my first week here. Eversince then I am a regular and the food is sooo good !! Absolutely delicious and heavenly curries and chicken/lamb dishes. I have to give a one up to their Manager Mr. Tony he's the one who runs the show and he does a great job ! I honestly recommend Mefhil for all you foodies out there ..... see you at Mehfil !
A Real Jewel – Friendly service is a big plus, but the food is perfect. Lots of wonderful tastes in every dish that I've tried, and I'm only a quarter of the way through the menu. Always my first choice for a great sit down lunch or an early dinner.
Slow service but good food – Good Indian food (great naan), reasonable prices. The service is extremely slow, though. So plan to add an extra half hour to your lunch.
Great Indian Food – I highly recommend Mehfil. The food and service is excellent. Among the best I've had in San Francisco.
Flavorful Indian Food – Stumbled upon this place on Citysearch and was happy to find great Indian food - very fresh and flavorful. Interesting dishes from all over the country. I've gotten takeout but I noticed the interior - nicely decorated in traditional things but not overdone and not too modern. Looking forward to going back for dinner with a group so I can try many more dishes (I've only had 3 but they'be been stellar so far). They also have some cheap $3.50 lunch dishes (meat or veggie w/sauce over rice) that look goo... read more
