About

While staying at this luxurious 20-acre (eight-hectare) estate at Meadowlark Country House, you can go cycling, sunbathing on the decks, have a picnic or gaze at the deer if you wish. The rooms have panoramic views of the entire estate and each one is gorgeous in its own individual way. The European proprietor is an expert in his field and the country-style service here is immaculate. From the private decks overlooking the valley to the cozy fireplace in the lobby, this will be a memorable stay for anyone.

Meadowlark Country House is the perfect relaxing getaway. The owners immediately make you feel at home. Set amidst beautifully landscaped grounds, a hanovarian breeding farm and organic garden lay the backdrop to a relaxing mineral water pool, sauna, and hot tub. We attended as day guests before a wedding and will be back for a weekend stay.

Meadowlark Country House, is as close to perfection as anyplace I have stayed, anywhere in the world. Richard & Kurt have created a hidden of heaven, with a fantastic pool complex.

Loved our stay Medowlark was an excellent experience. From the moment we walked in the door the inn keeper treated us like family. The other guests were very nice and everyone was extremely courtious of others (no loud noise/etc.). The breakfast was great. We will definately go back here.

Lovely California architecture overlooking the best of the wine country. – The Scene This Craftsman-style house is nestled in the foothills above the quaint wine country town of Calistoga. Its European owners love to show their guests around their 20 secluded acres, which provide opportunities for hiking, picnicking or just admiring unspoiled hillside or wine country views. The Details The house's inner gardens feature a koi pond with water lilies, ancient oak trees and a hot tub. The beautifully situated pool area is clothing-optional. Guests may choose to stay in the 800-square-foot cottage, or in one of the suites, which have French doors and private decks. Featuring private flagstone terraces, the guest rooms combine a mix of contemporary and classic styles. Some of the furniture, such as a minimalist four-poster bed, feels as if it belongs in a modern museum, although there is nothing uncomfortable about these graceful accommodations.
