July 14, 1897. Before electricity, telephones, and automobiles, B.B. Shiflett conducted his first funeral service, Elder Fredrick Wampler. Mr. Shiflett was one of the first licensed funeral directors in the county, receiving his license on May 23, 1902, after taking courses through Massachusetts and Philadelphia Colleges of Embalming.
