High end seafood delivers high end service, food at commensurate prices. Great happy hour deals! – Moving from DC where we enjoyed their DC and Bethesda branches, the food and service was very consistent. It's not a dinner place for those light of pocketbooks. Don't beleive the press – Unimaginative, benign atmosphere, melancholy service at best. Spend your money elsewhere. The crab cakes were sparse and the fish was good but not $18 good.
Take your money elsewhere – The atmosphere is basic and boring. Trying to be like a midwest atmosphere interior but done on a limited budget. The service was programmed with no personality. The food was a corporate restaurant experience. Pre-programmed, measured to exact size and weight, plus boring on the flavor. I am writing this because Austin's premier newspaper has a love for this place and not sure why when there are many other great restaurants in Austin.
happy hour and freshest seafod – OK I do not like chain restuarants but McCormick and Schmick's defines a great dining experience. The absolute freshest seafood and the best oysters ever bar none. We always went there for the happy hour, which happens both early and late, two happy hours a day is a good thing. Our first dining experience away from the bar resulted in an incredible experience that i doubted would be impossible. Best darn seafood I have ever eaten!!!! – I don't know how y'all could rate this place an 8.7! I was in the other saturday night with my wife and had a wonderful time. I started with fresh oysters, they tasted like I went the ocean and pulled them out of the water myself. I followed the oysters with an iceburg bluechz salad that was great, my wife had a cup of crab bisque that was amazing. For an entree I ordered a filet of beef topped with shrimp scampi. A Dissapointment – Sitting at the bar was a mistake, as the bartender was very slow at taking my order (the bar was not busy at all...it should not have taken that long). I felt like I had to ask for EVERY little thing...nothing was offered to us. It seemed like the bartender doted on the other party at the bar with great detail and ignored my party. The mussels were delicious, so I would return for the food. Sit at the bar if you want horrible service.
Delicious Seafood – McCormick's has the best fresh oyster bar in town! Start here and move on to the impeccably prepared seafood menu. I had a holiday party for a work group here and everyone was very impressed with the atmosphere, attentive service, and fabulous dinner menu!
Seafood Heaven – My family and I have eaten at M&S several times since its opening in Austin, and we have never failed to enjoy its ever-changing menu of seafood delights. The service is impeccable, the coffee is to die for, and the seafood is always fresh and delicately prepared. It may be chain restaurant, but this chain is golden.
YAWN – M&S's is like a very bad cliche': all dressed up and no where to go. Bland, unimaginative food + dismal, unpolished service + beautiful interior space=Big Corporate Chain Restaurant. DO NOT GO!!!
