He is a good listener, willingly gave explanations, very patient, very experienced
Dr Zavod explained everything to me before and after my surgery. He was gentle, and thoughtful and used excellent sterile technique. He is a wonderful surgeon, and a very kind person. He even called me at home that evening after my surgery to see how I was doing. We are very lucky to have such a fabulous doctor here at Woodland Healthcare.Kristina, his medical assistant did an excellent job also. She explained everything to me and was kind and efficient. They make a great team and I would highly recommend them.
Dr. Zavod has removed basal carcinomas from my nose twice. He is an excellent surgeon, as expected. What was unexpected to me, having long professional experience with surgeons, were his doctoring skills. After both surgeries he called to find out how I was doing with genuine concern and compassion. I also admire his communication skills, as a profession and teacher of medical communications I was impressed with his focus on health literacy, explaining himself in clear, simple terms that anyone could understand. Highly disappointed with our visit and will be seeking a second opinion. Dr. Zavod was condescending and rude from the start. He lectured us on how a tonsillectomy is a horrific procedure that can lead to extreme bleeding and death. -If you wanted to be terrified and talked out of a procedure, he's the Dr. you should see, even if your airway is compromised and it's difficult to breathe. My advise, seek out treatment from another Dr. who will have compassion and understanding for your condition and will want you to get better... read more

I saw Dr. Zavod after I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. When I started to cry at my office appointment while we were discussing treatment options (full thyroidectomy and radiation treatment), Dr. Zavod literally said in a cold and condescending tone, "Is THAT why you're upset?" I guess a life changing cancer diagnosis is not a justifiable reason for emotion in Dr. Zavod's eyes. It really makes me question the Dignity Health, "Hello Humankindess" logo.
Dr. Zavod took the time to make certain that I understood my options before I agreed to a surgical procedure. I am extremely pleased with the result of his work.
