Superb food. Nice people. Cool atmosphere. Try the pizza. Pasta dishes incredible. Owner/chef Matt Cavanaugh, even though he's at a young age, has a tremendous amount of restaurant experience. It sits in the heart of Lawrenceville, Pittsburgh's emerging, hip neighborhood. Matteo's is at the forefront of this hot place to live and dine. It's nearly two years old. Hope to be going there for many more years.
The atmosphere was great as well as the service. Erica was phenomenal. She was very attentive and a great conversationalist. The food was delicious especially the oil and bread. I got the blackened gorgonzola rib eye and my girlfriend got the paisano pasta. The portions were very generous and was priced fairly. It was also great to see Matt the owner out shaking people's hand and chatting to the guests. The most impressive part was Matt thanked us for coming and really made us feel welcome.
