Outstanding food & persoanl service – Our experience at Mastros Ocean Club was phenominal. The service was incredible and the food was even better. The lobster mash potatoes were superb as was the buttercake. Chris, the manager was very personable and very professional, insuring our experience at the restaurant was memorable. If you have any problems he would surely see they were taken care of. The steaks were delicious. Just loved the atmosphere
Problems with regulars – The place is beautiful. The bar is great. The food is really good. My problem is with the "regulars". Every-time my friends go there just to relax, enjoy ourselves and maybe meet some new people, the "regulars" are so annoying and super rude. Especially guys at the piano bar. There is unsolicited touching, they pretend that they are somebody that they are not. Amazing as usual! – Last night my girlfriend and I went to the location in Crystal Cove and had an amazing dinner. The service was personable and punctual. My filet was great and my gf had a nice portion of tasty king crab. We have had drinks in their bar quite a few times but rarely sit down for a full dinner. I recommend asking for a table by the window at sunset. It was unbelievable and a nice treat to a busy weekend.
Best Dinner Night Ever! – I absolutely loved the food, the butter cake for dessert was sooooooo good. highly recommended!!! Service was actually excellent. I made reservations, showed up about 10 minutes late and they still sat us right away. Not a place to grab dinner quickly. It's a really social dinner place, perfect for nights when you just want to relax, have a bottle of wine, great food, and some good company. Great Ambiance! – Although this place specialty are seafood, I tend to order their steaks. I've have order some seafood entree in the past and was disappointed. I expected alot more. I am however never disappointed with their steaks. They don't offer as many cuts as there steakhouse in Costa Mesa, but offer many fine cuts. Their sides are wonderful! Delicous steaks and seafood - OK service – Went there on a Wednesday night. First of all, I had asked for a table overlooking the ocean b/c it was a special occasion. I had called TWICE to confirm this with the hostess, and she assured me it would be taken care of. Yet when we arrived, no one seemed to have any recollection of this! super slow service – I went to Mastro's a couple weeks ago to celebrate my birthday with a group of friends. I've been to the Mastro's in Beverly Hills and expected the same level of service at the Newport Beach location but was highly disappointed. The waiter was SUPER SLOW in taking our order. It took him about an hour and a half to take our order and then another hour or so for our food to come out. Excellent Service!! – I went to Mastro's the first time a couple weeks ago. I am not a big seafood fan but I totally recommend it! The food was great, but most of all I was impressed by the service. I use to wait tables for about 10 years so I know what to look for and everything was top notch. Ben was our server who was fantastic. Go to Mastro's ask for Ben and order the Butter Cake for desert and you will not be disappointed.
Does not disappoint – Have been several times now and it has not let me down. I am VERY picky when it comes to both food and service. The first time I went I was thoroughly impressed. That said I've been waiting for a let down and have been back 5 times and have not had a let down yet.
