Marukai Supermarket is wonderful for new comers! I found everything I needed when I settled down in LA for the first week, fresh vegetables, rice, noodles, and even a rice cooker! Most important of all, the price is nice and reasonable. If you're an Asian newly relocate in LA, Marukai is a great place for you to buy everything for everyday life.
Nice Japanese Supermarket I like gong to Marukai to purchase Japanese snacks and candies. They have a vast collections and they are always neatly stacked in the shelves. To shop in Marukai you have to pay a certain amount of fee to be their member. If you don't plan to shop at the supermarket a lot, you can purchase a monthly membership card. If you like Japanese stuffs, such as bowls, chopstiks or even cosmetics, this is the place for you to shop then!
Customer Service w/a smile This supermarket is a place where I just so happened to stumble upon; I did not know they had a location in Little Tokyo. The store itself is small, but they do manage to carry all sorts of Asian foods and condiments. They also have a little health section with vitamins and such. Japanese grocery store One-stop Japanese grocery store. It's located in Little Tokyo in downtown L.A. Has a nice, Asian-feel to it. Fresh seafood available everyday. I like the buns that they have here, especially the bean and green tea taste bread - you can't find some of these at other bakeries.
good authentic supermarket This is a very good Japanese supermarket located in Little Tokyo. It carries almost all types of authentic Japanese foods and I go there a lot whenever I feel like getting in touch with my cultural food roots. Great Japanese Market Marukai is a great Japanese market located in Little Tokyo in downtown Los Angeles. They have snacks, candies, drinks, premade lunches....basically everything. It gets a little busy there at times, but there is ample parking across the street, located next to the best tattoo artist around.
Who says downtown LA has to be overpriced? Marukai Supermarket in Little Tokyo is a great place to grab a bento box, chilled green tea and some melon gelatin all for a little over five bucks. This little market has produce and asian food items at hard-to-beat prices.
