The cocktails and the staff are still terrific; but the new, "hipper" vibe seems to be chasing away the regular crowd. Martinis was the last of the "white table cloth" gay restaurants in Hillcrest. Crab cakes (now 2 instead of 3) were thrown together with a spicier remoulade so you wouldn't notice; the music was all techno (like Rich's without the go-go-boys) and they had 1 bartender for 6 waiters + the whole bar crowd.
