Marseilles Hotel

About this business

The Marseilles is a veritable art deco castle. Occupying a central spot on Collins Avenue, it was designed in 1948 by renowned European architect Robert Swatburg. All the features that make deco unique come into play are here; flat and curved walls, ceiling lighting, use of glass blocks and neon, and cast iron railings. The hotel offers a variety of amenities and services. The sparkling blue waters of Miami Beach are just steps away.

Disgusting Hotel – This hotel was such a dissapointment. The pictures are deceiving. The hotel is run-down, dirty, old. Doors and windows do not lock or work properly. Staff is extremely rude and unprofessional. At night time, the place basically turns into a brothel. Disgusting...do not stay here.

User review by lnorell – My family spent five nights at the Marseilles during the holidays. The hotel is filled with the grandeur of a spectacular era. The hotel was in a prime location for us to take advantage of the beach, shopping, dining and even two museums. The children enjoyed the pool, and it was wonderful to have the beach right outside. Cheery & happy to help, the staff were a delight. We would recommend the hotel for the price and location.

Editorial Review by Citysearch Editors – Art Deco-district hotel for business and leisure travelers; rooms with views, kitchens and spa tubs; pool, meeting rooms, laundry, local tours, car rental.

Spent 2 horrible nights – We stayed 2 nights in the Marseilles Hotel during the 2005 Presidents Day WE. The room was pretty clean but we couldn't sleep because of the AC which sounded like a chopper. It was so loud that we had to use earplugs to get a little rest. The concierge told us that the hotel was old and so was the AC . She offered to refund the parking fees ($20 per night) for the inconvenience. We won't return there.

Unhappy and Disappointed – Don't stay here! The staff was unfriendly. The rooms were unimpressive and the service was not customer friendly. For example, when we made our reservations, the hotel offered a free continental breakfast. Before we arrived, they changed their policy and refused to give us a continental breakfast until we complained profusely. Well, the continental breakfast consisted of coffee, orange juice and toast. This attitude is a good example of the type of service you will get when you stay here. They do n... read more
