No! I am sure the quality of the products at Markman's are adequate. But the attitude of the sales staff and indeed the elder Mr. Markman himself are what I found lacking. I found him to be condescending and arrogant. I will never return and I certainly would not recommend his store to anyone I know.
Steve is cool, Art SUCKS My fiance purchased my ring from them in December of 2009 and proposed February of 2010. The diamonds are spectactular, and the services they offer are uncomprable! They will clean your ring any time you take it by the shop, they offer free rodium plating, and they tighten my prongs holding my diamond in each time I walk through the door. BUYERS BEWARE BUYER BEWARE! I cannot believe Markmans gets any positive comments. After years have passed I still get furious when i think of how I was treated at Markmans. As a young man I worked and also sold everything I had to purchase my fience a diamond solitaire engagement ring. When the engagement broke off I went back to see if they would take the ring back. That's crap I don't know who wrote that, but I'd love to hear the explaination of why they think Markman's has poor products. As a former employee, I'll be the first to say I don't agree with some of the business aspects of the company, but as for their products and quality I would defend entirely. The diamonds sold there are hand picked from the Markman's, Steve flys to Belguim yearly and inspects them. And the workmanship? Markman's is GREAT! My husband wears a diamond Kentucky cluster ring we purchased at Markman's over 25 years ago. He noticed that one of the diamonds was missing and we took it into the East Town store for repair. A couple of weeks later when we hadn't heard from them, they admitted that somehow the ring had been misplaced on the transfer from the East-West store. Sub Par Service We purchased out wedding set from Markman??s 14 years ago. They totally sell you on their Quality and Service. Well one of the prongs on my wrap broke, and the diamond lost. I took my piece to the shop in Knoxville. They still had my purchase on record (good record keeping). I asked them to resize the set (14years+3 kids=not the same size) and fix the wrap??s prong and reset a new and similar diamond, and I would pay the cost. Always a disappointment I have purchased numerous items from Markmans. I have also had to return numerous items for repairs. The quality of work is just not where it needs to be. I have heard this from many people as well as personal experience.
