Outstanding Food and Service!!! My family has been dining at Mario's for at least three decades. My dad took us when we were childre. I am well into my adulthood and Mario's remains my favorite restaurant. Having been there dozens of times, I have never had a bad experience. In reading the previous reviews I was very surprised. My husband and i had a wonderful time - the food was great. I had Chicken parmesian and my husband had a filet. He said it was in the top 10 best steaks he had ever eaten. I know the restaurant has been here for years and probably could use a bit if sprucing up. Our waiter was cordial and discreet but brought us everything we needed. It wasn't a busy night. We'll definately go back!
A Tradition Mario's has been one of my family's favorites for decades. Very convenient pre-red wings game with a courtesy shuttle to Joe Louis. I love the old school atmosphere and the multiple course meals. Decor might need an update soon.
Horrible Experience My husband and I ate at Mario's in Detroit on February 13, 2010 to celebrate Valentine's Day. On December 27,2009 our group holiday dinning experience was poor from a waiter named Shannon at table # 27. I can get a rude, grumpy waiter any place for less money. We never received a wine/beer/beverage list, tea was served with no spoon and no saucer for the tea cup? I feel it is very over rated and over priced for the low quality you receive. The coat check was also poor, they hang multiple coats on a hanger? The best service received was from the Valet drivers.
I do understand the vintage feel. However, an extreme makeover is necessary.
Horrible This was one of the worst dining experiences of my life. I made a reservation for a large group well in advance. I even called that day to confirm we when we were arriving. it still took over a half hour for us to be seated, despite there being many open tables. If this isn't bad enough it is the way we were treated. The staff was not helpful, polite, or apologetic. We were not offered a seat at the bar. superb Mario's is one of my favorite restaurants!! We go here for dinner before a show downtown, they drive us to the theater and then pick us up and we go back to Mario's for dessert! Love it! Highly recommend!!
