Since 1948, Mario's Italian Restaurant has been one of Detroit's most notable Italian restaurants, featuring table-side cooking of traditional dishes. Valet parking ushers a fine dining experience in the main room, with gorgeous paneled walls and mirrors, maintaining the 1940s charm. Beef Burgundy, Beef Siciliana, Lobster Thermidor, veal Marengo are among the favorite entrees, and Peach flambeau and Banana Tropicale desserts are popular.

A Tradition Mario's has been one of my family's favorites for decades. Very convenient pre-red wings game with a courtesy shuttle to Joe Louis. I love the old school atmosphere and the multiple course meals. Decor might need an update soon.
Still one of Detroit's Best Whether off to the theatre, Tiger's game, or the casino, Mario's is still one of our best restaurants in Detroit. It's not cheap, but it is delicious. I love the appetizer tray with veggies, cheese, salami, and the bread. Waiters are wonderful, too.
Horrible This was one of the worst dining experiences of my life. I made a reservation for a large group well in advance. I even called that day to confirm we when we were arriving. it still took over a half hour for us to be seated, despite there being many open tables. If this isn't bad enough it is the way we were treated. The staff was not helpful, polite, or apologetic. We were not offered a seat at the bar. Mario's on 2nd St, Detroit vs Marios in Troy Mario's on 2nd Street is deliciously to die for! Presentation of entire restaurant and service is one of the best in Michigan! Horrible Experience My husband and I ate at Mario's in Detroit on February 13, 2010 to celebrate Valentine's Day. I will start by saying that I made reservations to surprise my husband whom has raved about Mario's for years. He had not been there in over 7 years but remembered the food being good. superb Mario's is one of my favorite restaurants!! We go here for dinner before a show downtown, they drive us to the theater and then pick us up and we go back to Mario's for dessert! Love it! Highly recommend!!
Outstanding Food and Service!!! My family has been dining at Mario's for at least three decades. My dad took us when we were childre. I am well into my adulthood and Mario's remains my favorite restaurant. Having been there dozens of times, I have never had a bad experience. Just like anything else, there may be days that don't run as smoothly as others but in these cases, I have found management to be very efficient and attentive to concerns. Misadventures in dining, customer service, and a reprehensible abuse of employees. I has the misfortune of meeting the owner, who rather than apologizing for late food, he blamed us for our kids keeping the soup when we wanted to move on to next courses. The staff did get confused, and failed to keep things going despite asking 4-5 people, who instead offered additional pasta courses. 2 of our party were taking the shuttle to a 7:30 show.
