The level of care (and caring) was excellent, in my experience. Last week, I had two molars extracted (not at MGH), and I had experienced a consistent, dull, throbbing headache. The dental surgeon had prescribed 600mg Ibuprofen, but had neglected to mention that ibuprofen can raise one's blood pressure. Out of four great experiences this was as bad as at gets receptionist was fast and great first ones there empty then a bus load of people came in and were bypassed by every single one a woman throwing up all over herself was left in waiting room
Went to Marin General around 12:30 AM with my daughter for stomach pain. They quickly diagnosed that it was appendicitis with blood work and a CT scan. Surgery was scheduled for the morning - and she was recuperating by 11:00 AM. The entire staff was professional, courteous and helpful every step of the way. The doctor and nurses were thorough and knowledgeable. We came home later that day and finished recuperating at home.
I had both experiences, very good and bad. I went there because I had chest pain, shortness of breath, pain on my neck and jaw, I know that could be something serious but also could be stress, I really had panic attack, I never had one but I felt insecure and I think that the problem. The nurses in the ER were great, the people really wanted to make me feel good, but then they told me I had to stay because I should get stress test next morning and I wasn't going to have breakfast. I was forced to go to the er by my job when they saw I wasn't looking so good. I blamed it on anxiety. But they weren't sure. I went in with shortness of breath and chest pain on Monday the 26th. I was seen within 2 hours (which compared to Sacramento's wait time of up to 6 hours is amazing) My blood pressure and vitals were good so they were going to brush it off as anxiety as well.
