I Have enjoyed Marias unique & special ambiance for many yrs! Fresh, delicious food& great music on Sundays! The staff are warm, friendly, & it has that wonderful Austintagious feel!
Visiting from Dallas and this was recommended to me to try out when we got here and it was delicious! Would recommend to anyone.
One of the very first thing I ever did when I moved to Austin was go to Hippie Church about 6 years ago. The music was delightful and the food amazing. Never did I think that one day I'd be playing Hippie Church myself. I love Maria and all of her staff. They are truly loving and great, and I'm so glad they are staying open! Best migas I've had in town. Period.
You can get a taco just about anywhere in Austin, but if you want the BEST tacos, there's only one place -- Maria's!!! My usual order: chips and queso, chorizo-potato-cheese, and a taco al pastor. Topo Chico or horchata to drink, unless it's after noon.

My husband and I discovered Maria's Taco Xpress 10 years ago when we first moved to Austin and went there regularly throughout the 7 years we lived in town. We created many friendships there and it is ALWAYS the one place we never miss visiting when in Austin. I have been going to Maria's and enjoying her tacos since they were being served in one of Austin's first food trucks outside of her neighborhood store. This place isn't just a restaurant, it's part of the heart and soul of the South Austin Culture, and has been an important meeting place for Austinites for ~ two decades now. It's my favorite food/meeting/and music place of all of ATX. Viva la de Maria's!
I have been going to Taco Xpress since she was in the tiny space next door. Her food is filled with love and I can taste it. The vibe is very special. The music nourishes me, too! Don't miss the Taco Xpress experience.
Maria is a doll! Sweetest lady on earth! Best vibes at Hippie Church. I swear Jesus himself is jammin' to the music there! Great workout dancing in the heat too! Love it, love it, love it!!
