Terrible sandwich – I've enjoyed Marco's for about 20 years. A few different owners, but always a good experience. They seem to have had a good sense of what the kitchen can do well. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were almost always very good. My last visit though, I tried something something that I just felt like ordering at the moment. One of the best restaurants in Portland! – Marco's is such a wonderful neighborhood restaurant. They strive to be a socially conscious restaurant, and they give back in so many ways. The staff are very nice and helpful. The food is great, and the Sruthi's cardamom tea is fantastic! One of the best breakfast and lunch spots in Portland!
Great food, worth the wait. – It is no surprise to me that there is frequently a line when I go to Marco’s. Their food is always delicious and well priced and I always have great service. They have terrific daily specials and a regular menu with lots of different types of foods to choose from (oh and they make fantastic daily breads too). Good food cool portland chic – We were new to the area and asked someone where we should eat and they said marco's. It was really good food, the hamburger was one of the best I have had in town also fried are good. Also the mexi salad was really good loaded with fresh stuff. I was to go back right now.
best breakfast grub in town. – My wife and I go weekly for breakfast and sometimes dinner. Rotating specials keep the menu interesting. The wait staff are great and know us now. Watch out at breakfast time because it is a very popular place. come early or late to avoid the wait.
One star because 1/2 star wasn't available – I've been a Marco's regular for more than 20 years. Today's experience left me stunned. My food was fine, but my friend's was cold. The waitress, after trying to justify the food being cold, took it back. When my friend got her plate back from the kitchen, there was only 1/2 order on the plate. After registering yet another complaint, the manager came to the table saying that the kitchen said she had already eaten half of it. (Not true!) Very disappointed, won't be back – I have been a customer for many years, and have in the past patronized Marco's regularly. On my recent visit, my entree was so cold I just couldn't choke it down. The waitress and manager both suggested that if there was a bit of warmth in the food, my complaint was groundless. I found the ensuing customer service responses to be non-gracious to the point to being bizarre. I left in a state of shock.
What happened to Marco's?? – Marco's is our family favorite in the Village. We go at least twice a week, and always take our out-of-town visitors. Unfortunately, the last few times we've gone, the food has not been up to par. Most recently, I ordered my favorite breakfast which is a feta omelette with avocado and the avocados tasted bad. Annyone who eats avocados knows a bad one! When I mentioned it to the waitress she blew me off stating that they cut them fresh daily. Wish there were more Marco's – I have been going to Marco's for years and it remains one of my favorite "go-to" restaurants. Great selection of food from Breakfast (served all day) to sandwiches, salads and full dinners means there's always something to satisfy. Excellent variety of vegetarian options, yummy desserts and friendly service. Very kid friendly! My only complaint is that they don't have more locations!
