If you find yourself in the downtown area around lunchtime stop by and visit Frank and the gang at Mandola’s Deli and Sandwich Shop. They have been serving up their fare since 1975. It reminds me of being at my uncle’s place back in Mississippi(old school basic Italian). This is the Giovanni- meatballs, Italian sausage covered in mozzarella and marinara choice of side and garlic bread(sad to say I had to leave on the table...who am I kidding I made little mini-meatball sandwiches with it).
We have been wanting to try this place for over a year! Finally went today and it did not disappoint! Great food, friendly service, good value and every type of Univ of Houston memorabilia. We are huge Coogs fans and now fans of Mandela’s Deli! We’ve always loved the other family restaurants they have but this place is casual, fun and we are already thinking of our next meal there! Yummy!
Lost touch with them for several years after switching jobs, then made the trip back a few weeks ago. Had the moof. Have to say they're consistent in food and service after all this time. Can't wait for my next visit.

What can I say, I have been to Mandola’s countless times. It’s one of my favorite places to eat in Houston. Once you go you will understand.
i ordered Mandola's for my companies Christmas party and when I tell you this was the best Christmas food we've had in 5 years. We also choose something different and this year everyone wanted Italian but absolutely no Olive Garden so I did a Google search. Mandola's popped up and i checked their catering menu and was sold before we tasted. Mandola’s has the best Italian I love their Turkey Deluxe Poboy and the deviled eggs are to die for. They always make us feel welcomed.
