I have been evaluated twice for moles on my retina. Dr Mames and his office staff have been informative and friendly. His recommendations are straightforward and make sense. He explains why he recommends his plan of care. I recommend him.
Dr. Mames is very friendly and a good professional. His team attended me very well, and they made me feel comfortable and welcomed from the first time I came.
He is a very fine doctor. Personable, and expert. He has done a great deal in helping me with my wet macular degeneration. I could not recommend him more highly. I would advise anyone with eye problems to patronize him.
He was able to double the vision in my affected eye. He is a very ethical and moral individual when it comes to the quality of your health care. He has the finest office staff in Gainesville. They are very professional, yet caring and compassionate in their interactions. I highly recommend him to family and friends.
Dr. Mames is gifted as a retina surgeon, no doubt. He operated on my detached retina in 2006 by placing a buckle and inserting a gas bubble. I've been told by multiple doctors since how fortunate I am to have vision in that eye, given the severity of the detachment and the amount of scar tissue. That being said, Dr. Mames has absolutely no bedside manner. I'd go so far as to call him rude. He acts like he's too busy to answer your questions.
He operated my retina back in 1992 and his work has held up perfectly. Thank you Dr. Mames. Saved my eye and will never forget it.
My experience is actually very bad! I was referred to Dr.Mames by Dr.Croley. I waited over a month for my appointment. I took the day off work because I knew from past experience that I couldn't see well after the appointment? 2 hours before my appointment the office staff called me to tell me that I had to bring in over $200 dollars because they didn't take my insurance! I lost a whole month due to unprofessional people working there
Following 2 out of my 3 appointments with Dr. Mames, his staff could not understand his cryptic instructions, so several of the staff had to repeatedly go back to him and ask for clarification. The blood work lab had to call for clarification, also. After my last appointment, the staff scheduled a future appointment for me to receive an eye injection of steroids, even though Dr. Mames had not met with me nor discussed treatment options following an eye scan procedure. I will not go back.
