Mmmmmm.... The food at mamas is some of the best you can get at the city. Cheap, delicious, wholesome its the best falafel in the city. By far the best falafel in the city. The egg plant and latkes are also really good. They even give away fried hot peppers that are simply delightful.
Mama's is soo good! The falafel is outstanding, crunchy outside, fluffy moist inside, never greasy. Either in a sandwich or as a platter, all the fix-ins are tasty as well. Its honestly so good that around lunch time anticipate the possibility of a line out the door, but have patience, because its worth the wait (and moves quickly).

Wonderful! – I like this place so much! I love the food and the help--they are so patient! I wish there were more room to eat inside. I live pretty far to take stuff out. It's OK in the summer--I can take food to the park and eat. But in the winter, I'd like to be able to sit inside and eat all the time. But that's a small complaint given the food and the prices here.
Fantastic Falafel Sandwich – I've gone here multiple times for lunch, and it is fantastic! The staff is very friendly, even when it's super busy (which it often is during lunch hour). It's a small place, so it can get crowded, but they do a good job of keeping the line moving & keeping things organized.
best falafel in Philly – I love this place. Everything I've tried has been very good but I keep coming back for the falafel sandwich. The small one is the perfect size and price for a quick lunch.
just plain YUM! – The food is simple and wonderful. The best falalfel and softest pita bread I have ever eaten. I love this place. Where else can you get full on $3.50?
Closes way earlier than advertised – To be honest, I have never eaten here so I can't review the food, just the service and the hours. I tried to eat here at 7 pm on a Thursday night (they are supposed to be open until 9). The carpets had been rolled up and the chairs put on the tables. The counter girl was inattentive/surly and a guy in the back gruffly called out "Take out only." It hardly looked open. Great food! – Ever since they took over this space, I have been a fan. Great food. Although when they first opened, the sevice was much better. I miss the guys that used to work there. I guess they were the sons of the owner or family, they seemed to care a little bit more. Now the guys back there are pretty "meh" They started serving whole wheat pita-a very welcome change. They are closed Friday night and Saturday, as they are Orthodox , along with the Jewish holidays so plan accordingly. Still the best falafel in the city ... read more
