Searching for a great seafood joint in Baltimore was a hard feat before 2003. Since then,Mama's On the Half Shell has risen to be the city's all-time favorite restaurant for those seafood delicacies everyone loves. Located in the Canton area of Baltimore, this crustacean focused establishment is perfect for dining out with the family, friends or that special someone. Their raw bar selection changes daily, but their crab cakes with mustard are almost always available.

Microwaved Hamburger & Overcooked Shirmp – My wife and I have visited this establishment 2 times together. We went for lunch one day and it was good. We decided to go back on Easter for a quick lunch... that was the last time I will go to Mamma's. My wife does not eat seafood, but I love it. I ordered the Barbequed Shrimp wrapped in Bacon, along with a Diet Soda and the Oyster "PoBoy" Sandwich. My wife ordered a hamburger cooked MEDIUM (any cook should know how to cook a hamburger). My BBQ Shrimp arrived after a 10minute wai... read more
so NOT the best mexican ever! – Ok who ever wrote that last review does not get out much? Nacho Mama's is average at best. It's like a cheesy Mexican diner w/ a less than average wait staff. They have three types of beer on tap, that's it. And the wine list is bottom shelf offering a selection of wines that would cost you less than $10 dollars per bottle at the liquor store. The place just feels dirty and is so not impressive. However, what Mama's has going for them is that they are open late and located on the Square. It is... read more
Wow..... – Highly recommend. I have never been disappointed, the menu is fantastic. The atmosphere is great. Oyster cans and collectibles decorate the space. Great place to spend a Sunday afternoon.
Great Bartenders – Great food (love the mussels), mixed crowd, and you've got to try an Orange Crush! The stairs are a bit tricky and steep but you can always sit at the bar or request a table on the first level.
Great food, great service, great prices!!!!!!! – My husband and I visit Baltimore a few times a year (we are from Phila). Every time we go we try a different restaurant until we find exactly what we want. Well, the search is over. Saturday night, no need to wait for a table. Service is amazing! Food, some of the best I've had. I highly recommend Mama's to anybody in the area.
The Absolute Best Mexican Food EVER! – Okay, seriously, the place looks very scary, but the food speaks for itself! For those of you who are penny pinchers you'll be quite happy with the large portions and reasonable prices! I will say, the wait can be very long at times. I think the longest I've waited is 2 hours, but I've honestly never ordered anything I haven't enjoyed. The crab dip is incredible! The crab nachos rock! And believe it or not, the meat loaf and smashed potatoes are the best I've ever had! Note: if you orde... read more
One of my Favorites in Baltimore! – What a find. Love Mama's! I have been here many times and am never disappointed. The food is delic. The service is great. The atmosphere is fun. The portions are priced right and are HUGE! The grilled ceasar salad is amazing, the tuna tartare is HUGE and delicious - so fresh. The crab dip and smoked oysters are so yummy. Drinks are large and perfectly poured! I def. suggest Mama's to anyone looking for a great seafood menu in a comfortable atmosphere. One of my all time favorite's.
Not mexican food in any way! – This restaurant has the worst mexican food I ever had-it makes taco bell look like authentic mexican. The hour+ wait is not worth it. Nothing is spicy and the rice and beans were real bad and had velveta syle cheese on them. STAY AWAY if you want real mexican food!
What a find!!!! – All the food portions are HUGE! It had some of the best calamari and scallops I have found in Baltimore. The decor upstairs is an eclectic collection of local memorabilia in a very Victorian dining room. Get the Ornage Crush Drink! Yummy! We got there around 6:45 on a Friday night and were seated right away. ou can make reservations everday but weeeknds.
