I have also been scammed by this company. I never selected Auto-Renew and never recieved notification that the renewal date was approaching. I attempted to stop the payment with PayPal the day before my renewal, however, I was told by PayPal I had selected auto-renewal when in fact I had not. The payment goes to a company 2co.com. I attempted to contact Malwarebytes and recieved several "Tickets" but no follow up on any of them. Stay away from this company.

Business response:

Hello Gerald, Thank you for reaching out. We will gladly provide the refund for the renewal and cancel the subscription. We do see that you have filed chargeback for the renewal. To speed up the refund process it would be helpful if you could close the chargeback request. Thank you for your time

Scam. Have had the same scam perpetuated on me where they are charging my credit card and I have no means of stopping. My account shows no subscription and no credit card saved, yet they still charge the card I formerly had on the account.

Business response:

Hello Jonathan, Thanks for reaching out. As requested i refunded your recent renewal and subscription has been cancelled. Please allow 5-7 business days to credit your account Take care

This company has an intentional and known website and software issue where you can never cancel your auto-renewal regardless of what their website claims. I tried several help desk tickets with no response. Unacceptable and dishonest. They used to be great and this was not an issue but as soon as they did what ever on their business side to become Malwarebytes Premium this dishonesty started. I used to really love this product but do not tolerate this kind of behavior. This is a malware removal software company that has basi... read more

Business response:

I have tried several times and ways to cancel the auto renewal on my Malwarebytes account. Interesting that all of those times over a couple of weeks, an error is presented that says 'something went wrong please try again later'. Mighty convenient this error is. I requested assistance through help chat, there is no phone number on the site to call. And here I sit in limbo.

Business response:

Hello Robin, Thank you for reaching out. As requested we went ahead and cancelled your subscription. Take care

I sent an email stating that I did not want to renew my subscription a month in advance. There is no way to remove credit card from site. They gave me a complete run around. They said you need to download google something or other to complete what I wanted to do. This is ridiculous. Impossible to talk to or explain what I wanted to do to anyone. I typed in chat window that I didn't want to renew but they answered "we can help you renew" They charged my card $43.19. I want my money back.

Business response:

Hello Frank, Thanks for reaching out, a refund has been processed as requested. Our agent only wanted to educate on the benefits of the Premium version, we understand you no longer want to use our product. Please allow up to 7 business days to credit the account Thank you for your time

I signed up for Malwarebytes online. Have had it for over three years. Allowed company to "auto renew" my annual subscription through Pay Pal. After finding a provider that I felt had a better product, I tried to cancel my subscription midstream. My online account through their portal provided NO telephone number anywhere! When I tried to cancel through the location allegedly designated on the online portal, it stated: "Something went wrong" and would not allow me to cancel. When I looked Malwarebytes "customer service" phon... read more

Business response:

Hello, Reginald. We apologize for the difficulty encountered when trying to stop the automatic renewal and when calling our support phone number. We might have had an increase in received phone calls at the time you reached out to us. You can also get in touch with a Malwarebytes representative through our Live Chat support available from your My Account portal, from the Support section. We have stopped the automatic renewal for your subscription. This will expire on 13/01/2022. You will not be charged for a renewal. Ple... read more

I see from other reviews that I am not alone. I have been charged twice by MalWarebytes after cancelling the accounts. It is not possible to speak with anyone at the company. I sent one letter to the address which was never acknowledged. I agree that it must be a scam. I used them for years and had no problem as long as I kept paying. When I closed the account, I realized that they don't have any customer service. I switched and closed the accounts but they still try to get payment. Someone needs to address this. On top of i... read more

Business response:

Hello, Suzanne. Apologies for any inconvenience. We have reviewed our records and have found that, on Jun 15, 2021, your yearly Malwarebytes Premium subscription has been automatically renewed (3 devices, 1 year) in order XXXXXXXXX. The automatic renewal for the subscription was enabled at the moment of the original purchase in 2018. Prior to renewal, we have also sent a reminder to your AOL.com e-mail address (on May 16, 2020) informing you of the upcoming charge and providing a link to your Malwarebytes My Account to opt... read more

MALWAREBYTES is a SCAM, plain and simple. They charge you for a service they do not provide--i.e., it's a scam. They do not answer the phone or return e-mails when you can't get their "product" to work. They claim to have tech support, but they don't actually offer any help--i.e., it's a scam. All they do is take your money--you have to call your credit card to get them blocked, otherwise they will KEEP charging you. Stay FAR, FAR away from these crooks!

Crooks, pure and simple. I was charged without having signed on and they make it impossible to sign off. This company needs to be investigated and discontinued.
