Wonderful food! The Guacamole was some of the best we've had. The vegetarian dishes are really good, nice twist on cheese enchiladas. Plantains were great as well! Can't wait to go back and try more!

The place is amazing! Love the décor, and the food was the best! we ordered the empanadas for the appetizer, omg, they were good, good, good, for dinner I had the Ropa Vieja, very different from what I am used to, but was not disappointed, for dessert we had the flan, it was perfect, and the service (our waiter was Chris) was the best! It would be very nice if you add more plantain varieties to the menu, like the mofongo and maduros. We are looking forward to our next visit to Malo!

Worst service I've ever had or not had sat at a table for almost 10 minutes and got no service so we got up and left and not thinking that I will be back anytime soon and to top it all off we were sat by a manager... Wow that's the only thing I can think to say! WOW!

Second time to Malo and it's on the rise of becoming one of my favorite restaurants in Des Moines. Walt was our server and fantastic. Ordered guacamole for an appetizer and offered to try the new cucumber chips-the cucumber was a great idea however the guacamole needs more kick. Two and two together were bland, and the shredded cheese on top...not needed. We did enjoy the house salsa...Maybe a version with a kick? #17- excellent choice recommended by Walt and the quesadilla with caramelized onions..yum... Left very satisfied... read more

Amazing food!!!! This is by far one of my favorite restaurants!!! The buffet has a fantastic variety and the tacos are superb (especially the avocado taco in a lettuce shell)!!!
