Mama Mia!!!! – Love this restaurant!!!! Great service, atmosphere, and location!!!! I highly recommend the family style dinner if you are with four or more!! All you can eat!!!! We were rolling out and had doggie bags.
Maggiano's Good for a chain – The food was excellent, but a bit overwhelming on the portions. Restaurant was gorgeous, but loud. The service was slow and indifferent.
MANGIA, MANGIA, MANGIA – Thats what you do at Maggianos. Its fabulous Italian food. Not the coziest place to take a date, but the best food. The family style eating is your best bet on variety and price.
Take a group or go alone – This is an outstanding restaurant! Not just huge portions BUT great food as well!
Go hungry, expect average food – Table of 6 with reservations were seated promptly, immediately greeted by our server on a busy Sunday evening. Food arrives in portions that can easily feed 2 or 3. A Half order of roasted chicken arrives with 4 pieces. Service was slow both from the kitchen and the bar: the glass of wine I ordered for dinner arrived after I was finished eating and had cork. Dessert made up for it. Creme Brulee had a hint of citrus and was divine. Its alot of food for the money if you enjoy leftovers and have... read more
Good food, great service. – Good food. Large portions. Service was great. The busboy must have refilled our drinks 4 or 5 times. The waitress was friendly and always there when you wanted something, but not hovering over our table. Although I haven't tried the desserts, I've heard they are also good.
Good, not great – Overall I had a good impression of this place; the atmosphere was spacious and unique, the pasta was at least as good as what you'd find at most other Italian restaurants. Our server did a nice job, but we had the unfortunate experience of sitting in a "high traffic" area--I had a front-seat view of waiters crashing into each other (knocking over trays, etc) over and over again. It was frustrating for us to watch, and I KNOW it was frustrating for the poor servers rushing to get orders out.
Old Style – At last, someone breaks free from the neo-Tuscan tradition which has overrun the southeast like Kudzu. This is simple homestyle Italian cooking, presented in a Mafia palace. It's no Mulberry Street, but it's the most capable meat-and-pasta Italian in the area. And the mushroom ravioli is killer. If Sinatra came to Durham, he would have eaten here.
FLYTRAP – MY FIRST EXPERIENCE WAS NOT VERY GOOD. THE STAFF WAS ANNOYED BECAUSE THE RESERVATION FOR 10 WAS REDUCED TO 8. TO BE SUCH A NICE ESTABLISHMENT THE LAMPS ON THE TABLES HAD THE CORDS WRAPPED AROUND THE LAMP AND DROOPED OVER THE TABLE!. I WILL NOT GO BACK
