Nice restaurant, mediocre food – I was disappointed - a friend at work had recommended this place. The food is very mediocre; garlic bread was not garlicky, Alfredo sauce was thick, but not tasty. Service was mediocre too, child waiter did not remember my order, etc.
Great time! – Went there to celebrate family birthday, seated before our reservation time, had an attentive waiter (and my family is tough to please). The portions were great and if you think about how much you get to take home or share, the prices are quite reasonable for a restaurant and food of this magnitude. My father is a picky man and had a great time, and I will definitely go back many times.
Terrible! – After our visit there, my husband and I were so disappointed! The service was horrible and the food was cold. We went a second time in hopes of it being better...NO SUCH LUCK! They have the romantic atmosphere but THAT'S IT! PUT SIMPLY - THEY DON'T CARE!
Great Food – I love Maggiano's..the food is awesome, though the portions are so large that it always ends up coming home with me. The prices are so reasonable. The lasgna is the best I have ever eaten as is the spinach salad. The drinks, well, the sour-apple martini is one you need to try!
10 – Wonderful atmosphere and excellent Italian food. Their were so many choices I did not know what to choose. The flavor of the Angel Hair Shrimp Liabonettia? was wonderful. The prices are very reasonable and the service is great. The Italian bread is like dining in Italy. The wine selection is tasteful. You must dine there with your better half. The atmosphere is romantic as well as ambient. The service is good. The bar tender makes great drinks, and he is not light handed at that! The food is hot, and the Cosmopolitan ar... read more
nice setting, shame about the food – For all of its ambience and charm it's unfortunate that Maggianos falls short in the quality of food. The texture of the gnocchi resemebled that of gummi bears instead of being light and fluffy and the mushroom ravioli looked and tasted like it came out of the supermarket frozen food section. For the prices they charged, I expected more. The salads were ok though.
Food is good but must love SMOKE – The food is quite good - with my favorite being the mushroom ravioli. I've eaten in Maggiano's in the Chicago suberbs. It's one of my kids favorite restaurant in the Chicago area. He and his wife take all of their visitors to the area to Maggiano's. However, on thing is different here and I refuse to visit the restaurant here until management makes some changes - you must walk through the smoking section and wait in the smoking section to be seated. I observed mothers with babies in strolle... read more
Red and White Overkill – Maggiano's is a great group restaurant where many people can eat many types of southern Italian (see: red sauce) offerings under the "family style" moniker. However, the discriminating individual foodie would be better off trying one of the smaller, everyday southern Italian joints like Assaggio, Valentino's or Vespa. Maggiano's succeeds in an effort to bring Little Itlay to the country via an upscale chain restaurant (much better than Olive Garden or other chains), but the Mama Leone theme can only ... read more
Find a couple seats in the bar area. . . – If you are fortunate enough to snag some seats in the bar area while waiting for your table, the wait will go unnoticed. My husband and I went to Maggiano's for our 4th wedding anniversary and had a great time because we weren't in a rush. We had some fabulous mussels and decent wine while we were waiting; I was almost sad to hear our name called. Our waiter was great and the atmosphere was nice. I definitely recommend splitting entrees. . . they don't skimp on food.
