Editorial Review – Popular Silver Lake patio bistro serves upscale omeletes and Benedicts for breakfast, sandwiches and salads for lunch.

Fulfilling breakfasts! – We had dinner here one night and it was intimate and simple, and we could see the chef through a part of the window making our meal from scratch. At dinner it's light and satisfying bistro fare, but what I love this place for is their breakfasts. I always tend to judge a breakfast place by the quality of the potato side dishes - the house potatoes at Madame Matisse pass my test, which means they aren't mushy, overcooked, or worst of all - FROZEN. These puppies were sauteed and then baked and made of ... read more

Yummy & Funky – I absolutely adore Madame Matisse. The service is attentive and friendly, but not pawing. Their breakfast is slammin'. My favorite choice on their menu is the Spinach Salad which includes bamboo hearts, pumkin seeds, carrots, avocado, and lots of other yumminess I can't think of right now. It's all lightly doused with their house vinagrette. Frigging yummy!. I like that it's a small place on the funky end of Sunset. It makes the dining experience intimate. And, if there's a wait, it's well worth it.

A Family Staple – This is one of our favorite restaurants and well worth the Sunset traffic to get there at night. The duck breast with cranberry is so moist and the calimari is flavorful and always fork tender. Save room for the warm flourless chocolate cake! Though I fit a party of 7 in for my birthday, and everyone loved the food, I wouldn't recommend the squeeze and the 99 cent store is a needed diversion from the long wait. It provides unconditional good food and the staff is friendly and attentive. If you live in LA, y... read more

BYOB + Classic French Food – In contrast to all the reviews, I go here for dinner. They are open Thurs-Sat evenings. Sometimes there is a long wait, but it's because it's worth it! The menu used to have more variety (Sea Bass with Anise Confit got taken away last year), and it's not vegetarian friendly (at all), but the calimari steak is amazing and there are always daily specials. Best salads - beet apple salad and endive smoked salmon. The mashed potatos are really good, vegetables crisp, prices reasonable. (UPDATE - 8/19/... read more

Charming Place for Breakfast/Brunch or Dinner Madame Matisse is a weekend morning favorite of mine. I highly recommend the Scottish Eggs with the fresh-squeezed orange juice. For egg lovers, Madame Matisse will poach them well! Located on the corner of Sunset and Maltman, you have the choice to dine outside (recommended) and enjoy sun-drenched LA days while you eat.

Fantastic – Madame Matisse has become my favorite breakfast joint in LA. The pancakes are the best I've ever had--light and fluffy. Not for the butter-phobic, though. They pile it on! I've ordered a few other things, from waffles to omelettes, and have always been pleased. But I keep coming back for the pancakes.

My favorite brekkie place in LA!! – Everything is uber-tasty, good quality, service is quick and exceptional and --no-attitude!!! They are actual nice people and not snooty actors trying out their "method" skills. Intimate atmosphere, great food, love it!
