“I have been seeing Dr. MacCumber for many years and wouldn't consider seeing another retina specialist. My recent surgery experience underscores my confidence in him and his practice.” I wrote this after my first vitrectomy and the same is true now, after my second. As before, everyone was very supportive and helpful answering all of my questions. My vision is now floater-free which is nothing short of a miracle to me. Everyone at Illinois Retina in Oak Park was professional and kind, and I couldn’t recommend them more.
I liked Dr. MacCumber very much. He was highly professional yet personable, which is not a given with specialists like this. The entire staff was friendly and efficient on my visit, which was my first time in this office and seeing this doctor. I also was seen by a second doctor and two other techs/assistants. First visit as new patient after my specialist retired. While staff was welcoming, doctor did not make any effort to establish rapport with me. Interaction was short and lacked empathy or engagement. I trust practice medically but will try a different doctor next time.

I see Dr. MacCumber yearly and every time I visit, both he and the rest of the staff are wonderful. Professional, knowledgeable, efficient and informative. I really appreciate that Dr. MacCumber explains everything and will thoroughly answer any questions you might have. That really goes a long way toward reducing the stress level of having eye issues.
Everyone was pleasant and very helpful. Dr. Macomber was informative and knowledgable. I was impressed with the whole operation.

Even though Dr. MacCumber is not my regular doctor, he saw me because my doctor was not available. I had suffered a scratch on my cornea. Dr. MacCumber did a very thorough and calming examination, and guided me in following up on it. I highly recommend Dr. MacCumber.
