My husband and I found Maccabees on Groupon and we decided to go before a show at the FOX Theatre(a thirty minute walk). The decor was fun and the atmosphere was nice for a date. The service was very quick and polite. I liked how they left a large bottle of water at the table. The entrees came in large portions and were good, but my favorite were the soups(chicken lemon rice and tomato chickpea) and fish tacos starter! My one con would be that the rice and veggies tasted packaged or frozen versus fresh.
Very sad day today, my favorite brunch restaurant disappointed . After being seated we waited 5 to 10 minutes before I had to ask if our table had a waitress. There were 4 to 5 that had just walked by as if we did not exist . The menu has changed it is a buffet which I guess was OK however I felt like the food came right from GFS. Rice Krispies treats with drizzle ? In addition the distinct feeling of discrimination from the staff was all but to clear. Absolutely incredible food, great beer selection and a Bloody Mary Brunch on Sundays! I'll be back!
Hmmmm sat down at the bar which was filthy. No bartender around for at least 10 mins. When the bald asshole finally arrives he did not clean the table, never said hi, I then asked him what the Bloody Mary mix was, he looked at me and said its my mix I don't tell, but it's the best damn bloody you'll ever have... No smile not joking. Needless to say the ass lost two good paying customers. We walked out. So the Bloody Mary bar at Union street is amazing and the staff is incredible. Thank you bald jerk for sending us to Union.
